Consistent-Workout-Routine-at-Home-Pinnacle-Performance-and-FitnessWorking out at home has many of the same benefits as what you get from a group fitness class at the gym. Plus, it’s convenient! But at the same time, changing your daily routine and adjusting to working out at home might take some getting used to.

Here are a few ways to create a consistent workout routine at home:

1. Schedule your workout into your day.

It might feel a little silly to schedule your workout like you would any other appointment. But if you keep telling yourself, “I’ll work out when I feel like it” on any given day, you may never feel like it. If you’re participating in virtual fitness classes, stick to the class schedule when they’re available throughout the day.

2. Revisit your fitness goals and adjust as needed.

Switching to working out at home might mean adjusting to whatever equipment you have (or don’t have) available. You can only do the best with what you have available. It’s okay to make modifications to your workouts, as well as your fitness goals. Create goals around what you’re able to do at this time, and give yourself a break if needed. Don’t feel like now is the time you need to make extreme fitness gains. Unless you really want to! There is no pressure.

3. Keep a log of your workouts.

A lack of structure around your workouts can make it hard to stay consistent. If your workouts seem like they’re all over the place, start keeping a workout log. Tracking your workouts adds some organization to your routine and can help you stay more consistent with your training. If you’re not sure what to keep track of, write down what makes the most sense for you. Log the exercises, workout duration, intensity level, time of day, how you felt, and any other information that would be helpful to you.
