Conquer-Gym-Intimidation-Pinnacle-Performance-and-FitnessIf the idea of stepping foot in a new gym feels too intimidating, you’re not alone. Starting something new as an adult can be tough. Especially when it takes you out of your comfort zone.

Here are a few ways to help you conquer gym intimidation and get you on your way to achieving your fitness goals:

1. Focus on improvement.

Sometimes intimidation comes from the spotlight that we put on ourselves. We assume that we have to show up and already be perfect and really fit. Remind yourself that when you start something new, it’s okay to be a beginner. Put aside those unrealistic expectations and focus on learning and improving instead.

2. Consider one-on-one training.

Sometimes, the best way to get started with a new gym routine is to enlist some one-on-one help. If you’ve got your eye on a gym or studio, find out if they offer personal training sessions. A personal trainer can help you start on the right foot and feel more comfortable right off the bat.

3. Try a group class.

Showing up for a group class might seem scary, but every person in the group knows what it was like to be new. Group classes aren’t built on competition and comparison. Instead, group classes are all about fun, support, community, and getting in a great workout.

4. Get a workout buddy.

If the idea of joining a gym or studio on your own is holding you back, consider getting a workout buddy. Recruit a friend or two to sign up with you. Starting with a familiar face can help you manage your nerves and get on your way to achieving your fitness goals.

At Pinnacle Performance and Fitness in Corpus Christi, we understand that starting a new workout program can be intimidating. That’s why we offer a 10-day Free Class Pass for our Team Transformation Training program. Why not come in and try a few classes?
