I enjoyed playing and watching every sport growing up. Baseball, basketball, and football continue to be among my favorites but I enjoy watching almost any other sporting event.
I attended Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO with a BS in Kinesiology. I am now a graduate student at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
I am interested in performance and fitness because it has allowed me and those that I’ve worked with to be healthy and strong. Strength is something that may seem unimportant to some until it is needed in daily activities. Preparing the mind and body for life can be achieved through strength and performance training on a consistent basis.
I like working at Pinnacle because of the leadership and sense of community that is here. Getting to know people on a personal level helps to keep them coming back and is different from the past facilities I’ve been with. Knowing clients on a first name basis makes classes and sessions more meaningful knowing that I am helping people that I care about.
I enjoy working with any and all clients! I have worked with athletes and general population in the past. Whether it be helping the athlete become bigger, faster, stronger or helping the average Joe or Jane lose weight and get strong, I love helping all of those I’ve worked with.
I have many people that I keep up with that help motivate me every day. These coaches have pushed me each day to come to work and be the best coach I can be. They include: Todd Durkin, Eric Cressey, Mike Boyle, and Adam Farrell among others. These coaches push me to become 1% better everyday which helps me to motivate those that I work with.
My personal goals this past year were both about getting strong! The only sport that I train for is LIFE. I believe that everyone should train like an athlete. Everyone should be as strong as they can be based on their abilities.
One thing that most people don’t know about me is that I’m a country boy. I love spending time in the outdoors. And when I say outdoors, I mean the woods! I love hunting and fishing. Getting away from the hustle and bustle of life is needed sometimes and it helps me to get my mind right.
I would love to be able to backpack Europe within the next few years. I love food and history, and Europe has both!
I have always loved the TRX suspension system. It can be taken anywhere and I can get a great full body workout in no time.
My favorite exercise is the deadlift. I think people should lift heavy things and then sit them back down. The deadlift builds strength in the muscles that most people neglect, therefore putting their body at risk for injury. So lift heavy things properly, and keep yourself healthy!
I eat eggs almost every day for breakfast. So “nature’s super food” is up there. But as of late, meatballs have stolen my stomach. So many varieties that can do the body good!
Post workout shake includes: strawberries, blueberries, almond milk, spinach, and chocolate whey protein isolate. Delish!
One of the better books I’ve read recently is The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. It was a great book that discussed how successful people in the past achieved what they did and how they achieved it. Check it out!
At this time, I’m reading Paterno by Joe Posnanski. I am also listening to an audiobook called The Willpower Instinct by Kelly McGonigal.
